These are my favorite cookies. They are Ginger Cookies from the Raleigh Tavern Bakeshop in Colonial Williamsburg. My sister-in-law got us a dozen that my brother brought up. They are so "gingery". When we were kids the Bakeshop used to bake them in the brick ovens on the premise. Then in the 1990's some einstein from the health department decided it was un-healthy to do that. Funny I never heard of people dropping like flies from Hearth Baked Ginger Cookies.
In the fall they are particularly good with hot apple cider.
