If it's Sunday, then it's "Mums Day"

Since Mums arrived on a Sunday, this is the day I use to keep you all thrilled with her antics~

and I just know you are breathlessly waiting for the latest on Mums.....


We bought, what the package called a "teaser", we call it Boa. The first two weeks she came unglued whenever she saw it and would walk clear around the room to avoid it. The Good Husband kept trying to get her to play with it and finally it is now her friend. Boa is about 3 feet long between the stick and the boa. The other night, Mums kept trying to jump on the couch and was having trouble. Turns out she has Boa in her mouth and is carrying it around. So now we see a fast moving kitten with a Boa dragging with and behind her...she is very serious with the "kill"

One thing that we have come to notice is where ever she has the orange markings, they are all tiger stripped. She has two very prominent tiger strips on her back legs, but all her orange has the white stripping.

Busy, Busy, Busy

It's not warm out today......

It's raining and yukky.....

But I am getting my planting done.....

(and just what does this picture tell you? 1) it rained 2) someone broke a flower pot 3) we had corn on the cob for dinner....

This is lobelia....one of my favorite summer annuals. I could have pots and pots of them mixed with sweet potato vines all over the place!

Oh and this......Mums went to the vets today for her first check up and shots. This photo translates "I am not happy"

Now if I wanted something to grow here....

The Angel Fountain is growing! If I wanted some bird seed to spout in the crevice, nothing would budge. But here is something trying it's hardest to take hold.

It is also time to scub the thing out again. The crud now grows back faster than I can keep up with it!

Two games we play....

The first game we play is "Catch the Cat".... of which I can't show any photos as Mums is usually running like a bat out of hell.

The second game we play is "Where is the Cat". Today she was found in the study under the desk.....

When she can't be found I sing the "Where O Where is Mums" song (that I have totally made up), and lo and behold Mums shows up. I figure she comes just to stop me from singing!!! No matter what it works.

Getting ready!!!!!

The Good Husband finishes the last of the clean up, but the garden is all tilled and ready for the summer. We will get the plants in this week. Around here we have to wait until Memorial Day weekend at the earliest to plant as we still get frost. In fact we had some plant killing frost this past Monday and Tuesday (the 18th and 19th).

Today is the day we honor those whose served and gave the last full measure of devotion to this great land and for the freedom of many......

4 weeks ago ....

4 Sundays ago little Mums entered our life. From the looks of things I think she is content and home......

Build ups....

We have had a dry spring... to the point it advised not to burn anything outside. We have had a number of brush fires in the area.

So it is good to see these type of clouds... they mean rain and summer!!! Someone on the other side of the mountain was getting it today. We have not had any good thunderstorms yet this year... the kind that rains so hard that it washes the streets down or as we call it a good gully washer that gets rid of the pollen and makes the windows rattle!!!!

Summer Offically Begins

Memorial Day Weekend is here....the "official" start of summer. The Yankee Doodle Fairy hit the back porch and decorated it... and miracle of miracle the nevergonnabloom wisteria magically just bloomed in a matter of seconds. It will keep those "magical blooms" all summer too!!!! And I can enjoy my coffee on the porch and not freeze to death. YIP EE!!!!!

Some things will be Our Way....

Cat or no cat....Mums is allowed out only with a leash. So far it is not going too bad.....

She is at the point if she is going out with us, she knows the little red collar has to go on in order to go O U T. If she isn't out, then she's climbing the screen door (yes that is the dreaded squirt bottle hanging off the table edge!)

She is content to sit on the table top (this is the only one we let her sit on.....) and watch the birds. (oh if they only knew!), the chipmunks, and squirrel. We can't let her loose at all (first off I don't want a roaming cat), but we do have a resident hawk.... and she is still so little... I do not want her to be the hawk's snack!!!!

As good as it gets.....

Not a cloud in the sky, a light breeze that flutters the curtains, 76 lovely degrees, no humidity....

I would like to pause this day for about 3 months!!!

A little sip....

If the lilac that smells so heavenly to us, tastes just as wonderful to the Butterfly, then this is a very happy butterfly.....

The Bells of Spring that Herald Summer....

Our yard right now is so fragrant! The Lilies of Valley are in profusion and along with the scent of Lilacs, I feel like I am sitting in a perfume bottle.

Even when she is B A D she is cute....

The last day or two, Mums has decided that she is a mountain climber and shows no fear. The squirt bottle has been activated to stop the climbing on everything. (my personal favorite is the climbing up my pantleg...with all 20 beautifully sharp little claws.......)

However, there are a few feats that amaze me....like this.....

We are almost there....

We have just about made it to full leaf. We are "there" when I can't see the house next door. The happy news is I can sit out on the porch in the morning and enjoy my coffee.

The Bickerson's have returned....

On April 26th we hung the strawberries out for the hummingbirds....they found it on the 28th. I read on line that April 23rd was the date to do this..so that info was right on target. I also have read that hummingbirds live up to 4 years. If that is the case and they return to the same spots for the summer, then they know the food source. Still, I am amazed that something so little that flies thousands of miles can find a plastic strawberry on our back porch. God sure has made some amazing creatures... ( although I would like the purpose of slugs explained.....)

So the Bickerson's have returned are fighting with each other as usual...

Catnapping

Where does Mums take her kitty powernaps..... where ever she wants! Usually after some intense playing, attacking, pouncing, swiping, she just drops.

What I've been waiting for....

All winter I look out over my monitor at this view....but today I finally didn't see somthing!!! Behind the tree with leaves is a big blue water tower..... and you can't see it!!! Because we have LEAVES!!!! YIP EEE !!!!

O U T

Mums has been with us two weeks now.... and she tips the scale at 2 pounds. She is also discovering that she wants O U T, but we follow with a N O!

Nothing like a good wedding

The son of my cousin was married today. The setting was beautiful.

The reception was in an old barn....I justed liked the way the light came through the siding.

Heaven scent.....

I know Heaven must smell like these... God has given us a little scent of what Heaven is like.... or lilac...

This our lilac bush off the porch... the bush is loaded and the scent drifts into the house. As you can see we are still waiting for the leaves on our trees.....
