When I was a kid we did not live here...we lived in Floridia, Virginia and Maine, as my dad was career Navy. I grew up along our east coast. Every summer we would come "home". All of my mom's brother's and her sister would come home with all of the cousins. (I have 58 first cousins..all on my mom's side, dad is an only child!!) We would have a grand time. Especially my brother and me, as we would just be in a whole passel of kids and not get into trouble (too many of us to sort it all out!!!) Then one night my uncle would have a "Wienie Roast" with a huge campfire. It was a grand time!
When we built our house we put a firepit in our "woods". It is so nice to sit around the fire on summer evenings. It's like camping, except we have a nice bed to crawl into!! Instead of going to a movie or a drive-in, we watch the latest flicks on our laptop.... a Camp-in Movie.
( and yes we practice fire safety... the turned on hose is right there!! The Good Husband is a former fire-fighter so a little prevention goes a long way...)
