We took off for the day and headed east. We live about 2 1/2 hours from Gettysburg..roughly 120 miles.
First observation....we know it is summer and that it's time to travel when the orange barrels come out. Road construction. Miles and miles of orange barrels....putting traffic into one lane...and not a construction worker in site...... I am convinced the brother-in-law of the govenor has the contract on these things. Pennsylvania has more miles of highway than all of the other northeast states combined. We also live in the heart of the "freeze thaw" cycle in winter, which means we have some of the worst roads due to potholes and cracking. My question is if the construction workers can only work on 20 feet of road a time, why do they block off 10 miles at clip????? (takes me back to that brother-in-law thought)

Once we drop down out of the mountains, we come to the Pennsylvania farm land. To me it is flat..... But the farms are spread out over the valley plain and are just lovely.
