Today is my "bestest" friend ever birthday. I know the picture is cheat, but I took a picture of it, so I guess it counts. In this picture we are 8 years old and all dressed up for Easter. Yes, hats and gloves were the order of the day, and we lived in the south. Corky and I met in August 1960 in Virginia Beach. She had just turned 6 and I followed her a few weeks later. We were getting ready to start 1st grade. We were inseparable. I never had a sister but I had her! We fell in love with the Beatles together, and entertained the neighborhood with our own band (oh the poor neighbors....). Our houses were close to each other and we wore a path out between them. Our dads were career Navy guys. When I was in 6th grade we were transferred to Maine. Corky and I corresponded for a few years (and we moved again) and finally lost touch. I never forgot her and she was a part of thoughts for a very long time. Finally a few years ago, I started snooping around Classmates.com. Figuring I was looking for a needle in a haystack...what if her dad was transferred, we were married and didn't know those names etc. Well I looked at the elementary school...nothing. So on a lark I looked at the high school we would have gone to in Virgina and low and behold she was there!!!!! Believe it or not she had put her name on there a few weeks earlier hoping I might be looking. Well we got in touch and two years ago met up in Orlando. It had been 40 years since we saw each other! We spent three days laughing and crying...a lot. God blessed me with a good friend and a miracle in our finding each other!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CORKY!!!!
