The Greatest Generation

Our county today honored all living WWII vets. We have 1,017 registered in our county, of which nearly 800 showed up at the ceremony today. The program was lovely and it was something to see that many of our men and women who worked so hard to save this country and the world from tyranny. I had 4 uncles and a grandfather (who was drafted at age 38!) serve. My dad was just a bit too young, and entered the Navy in 1947 and did a lot of clean up work in the Pacific. He retired from the Navy in 1968, his loving wife worked at the Navy department before the babies started arrriving. Both of their children served... the daughter served 8 years in the Navy, and the son 6 years in the Army and Navy.

A warm, grateful, and heartful thankyou goes to those of the Greatest Generation.
