The Blue Jay rarely comes in this close, let alone on the ground. He didn't bully anyone. (the cardinal is the big bully I have found, he doesn't impress me....I guess looks aren't everything!!!) I have never seen a blue jay so close. His coloring is stunning.
This fellow is quite unusual to see. He is a Rosebreasted Grosbeak. Sorry about the pic quality, but I had to go to digital zoom to try and get him. I was aware of this guy on Friday, it was was his scarlet bib that caught my eye. Once on the ground he would never give me his better side. But his wings are rather interesting.
Every year we tend to the the Hummers. I put two big red feeders out for them this year. They hang on the porch. My goal over the last few summers has been trying to get photo of one sitting still. (I did take a blue ribbon at the fair for one in flight). Well, this little fellow, and I do mean little, had taken up residence in our lilac by the porch. (again I had to go to digital zoom to get this ...low light and he is tiny). He had sat in the bush all weekend, zip up for a drink, sat in the hanging plant , and back to the bush. His lady friend has been with him. He is a ruby throat. It is hard to see in the photo, but when he moves I can see it. They are rather odd looking though once you really get to see one. (it was a very windy, cold, wet day, he looks a little rough)

Love the bird pics.
I spend hours watching birds and other critters in my back yard.
Usually with a beer in hand.
