The Festival Season....

One of the best things about fall is all of the various festivals and craft shows that abound in the region.

We went to one our favorites... Mountain Craft Days. The festival is spread out over the grounds of the Somerset Historical Society. They have moved to the grounds old buildings from around the county.

I liked this scene...it says come and sit for a spell..... notice the spinning wheel inside the doorway.

We forget that it took sheer muscle power to build the homes. A round log, and axe, some brawn, and you have a beam for the home.

My favorite part is the wooded area that has the booths and paths. The festival highlights crafts and products that were made during our frontier/colonial period to the late 1800's. From an oak tree, the man made baskets.

This gentlemen made brooms, on original equipment.

The vendors dress in period clothing. Many of them have tents and stay, and the woods have the wonderful aroma of campfires.

We tried to use the wheelchair, but kept getting stuck, so I used my crutches. Made for a long day, but worth it.

Stocked up on our annual supply of Pennsylvania Maple Syrup... so let the pancakes begin!!!
