Elvis on Ice

We made our annual trek to Ligoner for their Ice Festival. The town of Somerset had their's last week, however with the temps in the single digits, we skipped that one! This year we were able to see them actually making the ice carvings.

They started with a block of ice, and stuck a piece of paper with the outline on to the ice. They then started carving with with a chain saw. This one was going to be a polar bear.

After the ice was carved out, they then used some hand held detailing tools to detail the carving.

By this time the ice had a frosted appearance. To get the ice clear and sparkly, they used a blow torch.

When they were done, you had an Icy Sparkly and very cold Elvis.

or a snowman.....
