We were important to the TV Ratings......

Last week we were a Nielsen Family. Our TV viewing was ever so important. We had to document everything. What did it prove? We have very boring TV habits.... plus with the writer's strike there is nothing good on. It is giving us pause.... why do we have cable with 100+ channels and all we seem to watch is the news or for the husband sports? Oh...we got paid to do this..... two crisp $1 bills......

Believe it or not, I don't even have a TV set... it broke down a year ago, I couldn't afford a new set right away, and by now I've gotten used to not having one (I still watch our 2 'State Channels' on my 'puter though). The only times I really miss it is when I get a yen to watch video tapes. That's the importance of TV in the 21st century for you :-)

I think if every TV came with an (optional) Nielsen box the television landscape would be drastically different. For the better.

I don't understand why they don't just enable some kind of tracking on Tivos--wouldn't it be easier?

You do have to write down what you you record on the DVR and when you watch it. My note would be 1 hour program...42 minutes minutes commmericals. The channel that got the most use from me was the the music channels ...we don't have any decent radio stations here.
If they can take control of my cable box via the phone lines, one would think they would know EXACTLY what I was watching.
