"Snowball" bushes

Growing up in Virginia, we always had "snowball" bushes in our yard. They are a white hydrangea. At a stop for gas yesterday there was a huge bush at the station.





I have tried to get any type of hydrangea to grow but all I get is leaves. I have since found out what the problem is...pretty simple it gets to cold here. So I am now on a quest to find a bush that tolerates our zone 5 winters.
