A messy project

Time to clean out the pond. It is a messy, yukky job. First we capture the goldfish and put them in a tub. Then we use the pump to drain the pond. After it is empty we have to scrub out the slimy stuff. I also scrub the slimy stuff off the rocks. Besides regular Pennsylvania sandstone rocks harvested from our yard, we have a lot of special rocks. We collect rocks during our travels to put in the pond. Our favorite rocks are the granite ones from Maine. They are all kinds of pretty colors. That is why I scrub the slim off, so that they look real pretty in the water. We wait until now as the lilacs are finished blooming and no longer dropping flowers into the water. This year we really had to do it, as it appears that the oxygenating plants must have died off, and the water was like pea soup.

By the end of the night, we had it all put back together and filled with fresh water. Tomorrow we will go plant shopping and get the plant that keeps the water clear. It looks like seaweed and puts oxygen into the water and keeps the pond lovely.

Now isn't this just the most exciting thing......
