Peony season is almost upon us. The ants are slurping up the sweet sticky nectar on the petals, which in turn allows the flowers to open. But it wasn't the ants that caught my eye...but the very shiny gold bug. So if the golden ticket was so special in "Willie Wonka"...I wonder what the Golden Bug may mean?????

It's a dilly....
This is very tiny bee on just one tiny flower on the dill head.
Dill is one of my favorite herbs... I love the way it smells, I like it on potatoes, in salads, and I make my own flavored vinegars with it. I love opening that "summerinajar" in the dead of winter and using it on a salad.
This morning the garden was damp (from all the rain yet again yesterday)
I love summer....

For a bug he's very pretty....
I was walking along our back sidewalk and happened to glance down at the now finished lilies of the valley. That is when I noticed this guy. For a bug he's beautiful. The spot on the back of his head was an iridescent copper. And the wings were lacy black. I kept thinking of the movie "Midnight Lace" with Doris Day and Rex Harrison...it's a good psychological thriller.
