Today we toured the Gettysburg Battlefield. We met up with our reenactor friends. They did a march to Devil's Den. The Good Husband and I decided to go up here....Little Round Top and watch them come across the field.
We had to really look for them. The Confederate butternut uniforms just blended with the grass. We finally spotted the Texas flag. What was interesing was seeing troops come across the field from this distance. They were pretty hard to spot without field glasses. Then think to the battle and add the smoke from the guns and muskets. We will never wrap our heads around what it was like....

This little guy is Bennie. He made all of the marches too. Earlier in the day he escaped. The unit was doing a firing drill and on the first volley, Bennie bolted. They figured he was halfway to Maryland! Luckly the kids found him roaming in the woods and brought him back.
