15 years ago we lost our wonderful calico cat. Like so many the thought of going through "that" again has kept us from getting another cat. The Good Husband told me if we could ever get another calico well then I could have a cat. Sunday after church, a member came up to me and asked me to come to her car. Inside was a cat carrier with a little kitten...a calico. She brought her for me! I took her into the church and got The Good Husband's attention...he knew something was up. And there I was standing in the middle of a group of people holding a very vocal unhappy kitten....saying "Can I keep her?" He looks at me....and I hand her to him..."here hold her.... he did and within 30 seconds named her "Mums" saying "My mum in heaven sent you to us". So since Sunday we have a new kitten in the house.
Mums was found along side a road in weeds, and was starving and filthy dirty... and very unhappy. We managed to feed her and I hand washed her, and all her very sharp claws!!! She spent the night under the lazy boy chair and was basically very unhappy. Monday dawned bright and early with a very inquisitive kitten. I think she must have had a talk with herself through the night. She is very much a people cat...as she has been glued to either the Good Husband or myself ever since. Mums on Monday weighed 14 ounces. She has picked up weight since then. She is a bundle of energy and the sweetest little thing.
Here she is at her favorite nap stop.... under the lazy boy chair.
I put a little afghan from our old cat for her to sleep on. Fortunately she has picked the chair that we don't use a lot. She has taken to climbing up my pantleg....with all 10 little claws! All I know is we are quite smitten!!!!
